Ram's Pure Vegetarian Restaurant is one of north-west London's most respected Indian vegetarian addresses. Based in Kenton since the 1980s, it earned a Time Out award for best vegetarian restaurant in London within a year of opening. The menu spans Punjabi, South Indian and specialist Surti (Gujarati) cuisine — paneer bhurji, bhindi masala, aloo papdi chaat and dal preparations sit alongside dosas and South Indian thalis. No meat, no alcohol, no eggs: the kitchen is strictly and genuinely vegetarian throughout. A weekday lunch buffet offers strong value and draws regulars from across the borough. Kenton's large Gujarati community has sustained Ram's as an institution long after many of its contemporaries have closed.
