Wing Lei

Wing Lei — also trading as Ruby Wing Lei — is the long-standing Spital Terrace Chinese takeaway, occupying a corner shopfront a short walk east of the Marshalls Yard retail park and the central core of Gainsborough. The shop has a clearly defined delivery catchment that takes in the surrounding villages of Blyton, Beckingham, Morton, Corringham, Lea, Misterton and Hemswell Cliff, with free delivery on orders over £20 within a two-mile radius and a small charge for the outer villages. The menu is a fairly classic British-Cantonese list with the usual sweet-and-sour, crispy chilli beef, salt-and-pepper chicken, chow-mein and curry-sauce staples alongside an unusually well-priced set-meal-for-two box that regulars repeatedly pick out on Tripadvisor and Restaurantji. The shop runs as a phone-order and online-order operation through its own takeaway site, with the trading entity having added Ruby Wing Lei as a second front for the online aggregator listings.
