Golden Dragon

Golden Dragon is Barrow upon Humber's long-standing village Chinese takeaway, occupying a corner shopfront close to the Market Place and Cross Hill in the centre of the small Humber-bank village south of Barton. The shop is a family-run operation that has been part of the village's evening rota for many years and trades into the surrounding hamlets — Goxhill, New Holland, Thornton Curtis — as well as the immediate Barrow streets. Reviewers on Tripadvisor and Restaurant Guru consistently single out the crispy chicken and the generous portion sizes, with the swift service and friendly front-of-house picked out almost as often as the food itself. The menu is a fairly classic British-Cantonese list — sweet-and-sour, black-bean, curry, chow-mein and crispy-aromatic-duck staples — with the usual set-meal boxes for two and three. Trading is evenings-only, seven days a week from 5pm to 10pm, which keeps the operation small and the cooking responsive. The only Chinese in Barrow itself, and a useful local for a village of this size.
