Shahed's Original on Pollokshaws Road has been serving the South Side of Glasgow since 1974, making it one of the longest-running halal takeaways in the city and a genuine Strathbungo institution. Now trading as Shahed's Original, the menu covers three disciplines — flame-grilled kebabs and skewers, tandoori dishes and a pizza range — with the Triple Mix and Double Mix kebab platters among the most popular orders. The 50-plus-year history on Pollokshaws Road gives it a community credibility that newer competitors cannot match. Located in the Strathbungo conservation area, close to the Alexander Thomson-designed terraces that give the neighbourhood its architectural distinction, Shahed's serves the Friday and Saturday late crowd as well as the weekday evening regulars.
