Rioja

Rioja started as a pop-up in 2012 and has since become one of the defining addresses on Finnieston's Argyle Street strip. Named after the Spanish wine region, the kitchen is helmed by Michelin-starred chef Miguel Angel Mayor, who works with Scottish and Spanish produce to produce a small-plates menu that rotates constantly — each month bringing new dishes, sometimes curated around a specific Spanish region or co-authored with a guest chef. Shareable tapas include inventive combinations across every course, from pintxos to dessert, backed by an all-Spanish wine list, Estrella on tap and elderflower-and-cava sangria. The room is compact and lively, the atmosphere authentically Iberian. One of the most food-serious addresses in a neighbourhood that takes food seriously.
