Masala Twist on Hope Street is among Glasgow's more distinctive Indian restaurants: the open kitchen uses no artificial food colourings or additives, and the chefs incorporate Scottish produce — venison, grouse, rabbit — into the South Asian repertoire, blurring the boundary between the two cuisines in a way that few comparable restaurants attempt. The lamb jalandhari is a standout, praised for its depth of spice, and the butter chicken draws reliable commendations. At the other extreme, the restaurant's self-proclaimed "Scotland's hottest curry" — made with the world's eight hottest chillies — attracts a niche of heat-seekers who appreciate the kitchen's willingness to take the brief seriously.
