About Killermont Polo Club
One of Glasgow's most distinctive Indian restaurants, Killermont Polo Club sits in a handsome former manse just off the upper end of Maryhill Road — a setting that feels improbable and entirely fitting at once. The dining rooms are decorated with vivid polo-playing scenes, and the restaurant does, in fact, run its own polo team. On the plate, the kitchen ranges well beyond the standard curry-house menu. Regional Indian dishes share the bill with a dum pukht section, slow-cooking marinated ingredients sealed in the vessel to build layers of intensity. Several preparations draw on Uzbekistani flavours from Samarkand — a culinary inheritance reaching back to the Moghul courts. There is also a delicate korma-style dish made from ground almonds, cashews and wild herbs that regulars cite as the reason they return. A finalist at the 2016 Scottish Curry Awards, the restaurant has both a walled garden for warmer months and private dining areas for larger parties. Booking is advisable at weekends.
