Himalaya Restaurant on Paisley Road West returned to its original 1984 ownership in 2012 after a nine-year absence, bringing back the same head chef who ran the kitchen for its first nineteen years. That continuity is the restaurant's defining story: not a reinvention but a genuine restoration, with the menu rebuilt around the authentic North Indian and Nepalese preparations that made its first iteration a Cardonald favourite. The menu covers curries, tandoori grills, vegetarian dishes, and fish options, cooked with fresh ingredients in a full restaurant setting rather than a collection-and-delivery box. Closed Tuesdays, open into the late evening on other nights. Free off-street parking and a full bar make it more versatile than the average suburban Indian. One of the few restaurants on the Cardonald strip with a genuine sit-down dining room.
