Global Cuisines on Gibson Street is a halal operation in Hillhead that, according to recent reports, now trades as Habibi — a speakeasy-style Persian and Iranian grill restaurant concealed behind a keypad entrance. All food is halal. The menu spans Persian flatbreads, hummus, roasted aubergine with spices (Kashk-e-Bademjoon), and grilled meats including Jujeh Kebab (boneless chicken), Koobideh Kebab (minced lamb) and Chenjeh Kebab (lamb fillet), served with saffron-garnished house rice. A Shirazi salad of mixed vegetables with mint and lemon completes the table. The concept has been praised across Glasgow food circles for the quality of its Persian cooking and the genuinely distinctive atmosphere.
