Christines Lite Bites

Christine's Lite Bites is a small cafe and fast-food outlet in The Braes Shopping Centre on Dougrie Drive, the principal commercial hub of Castlemilk. The menu centres on affordable daytime and early-evening eating — rolls, baked items, hot sandwiches and light snacks — serving the everyday needs of one of Glasgow's four major post-war peripheral housing schemes. Castlemilk was built between 1955 and 1965 to rehouse families from the cleared Victorian tenements of central Glasgow, and has undergone sustained regeneration since. The Braes Centre, where Christine's is based, functions as the local high street for a community of tens of thousands of residents, making it a genuinely community-focused operation rather than a commercial destination.
