Cafe India

Cafe India carries a long history. The restaurant was founded in 1987 on North Street near the Mitchell Library, and relocated to Albion Street in the Merchant City after a fire destroyed the original premises in December 2006. The new home suits it well: a generous dining room with a private Merchant Suite for functions, and a cook school programme that has become part of Glasgow's culinary calendar. The kitchen is certified fully halal and ranges across the subcontinent — Punjabi curries, seafood specials, and a vegetarian section that goes well beyond afterthought territory. The wine list is carefully matched, and the organic Scottish craft beer selection is a genuine point of difference. Curry karaoke nights add a characteristically Glaswegian note to the offer. One of the longest-running Indian restaurants in the city centre.
