Ashoka West End Argyle St

The original Ashoka opened at this Argyle Street address in 1973 — the founding house of what became a fourteen-restaurant Scottish group — and has been feeding the neighbourhood ever since. It sits at the Kelvingrove end of the Finnieston strip, where Argyle Street meets the galleries and the art museum, and the decades of experience show in the consistency of the kitchen. The menu blends traditional North Indian cooking with occasional Scottish inflections, the haggis pakora being the most frequently cited example.
