Ashoka South Side

Ashoka Southside has been a fixture on Clarkston Road since the early 1970s, part of the Ashoka group that built its reputation as Scotland's largest Indian restaurant chain. The dining room runs to sit-down tables and booth seating in a modern setting, with a menu centred on North Indian delicacies: haggis pakora as a Scottish-inflected starter, lamb jalfrezi, a Himalayan hotpot of chicken and vegetables, and one of the city's more celebrated vegetarian baltis. A seven-course tasting menu allows guests to range widely across the card. The 20 per cent discount on the à la carte menu Sunday through Thursday makes it a particularly good-value choice for the residential streets of Muirend and Cathcart, and the kitchen holds a halal certification.
