Lucky Jade

Lucky Jade is the Cantonese-specialism Chinese takeaway on Whitehill Road in east Gravesend, a residential strip running through the streets between the Kings Farm estate and Singlewell. The shop has built its reputation on generous portion sizes and reasonable pricing on a long British-Chinese menu — the standard sweet-and-sour, black-bean and curry sauce sections, separate king-prawn, chicken, beef and pork lines, a chow mein and fried rice section that runs to a dozen-plus variations, set meals scaled for one through to four, and a small chef's specials list. Chicken chow mein and the various sweet-and-sour mains are the dishes regulars come back for. The shop is counter-service only — collection and phone-order delivery rather than sit-down trade — with evening-led opening hours running through to around 11pm.
