China Garden

China Garden is the long-running Chinese takeaway on The Parade in Meopham, the prosperous Kent village whose historic green and 1819 Hook Green windmill mark the centre of the community a few miles south of Gravesend. The shop trades on Wrotham Road in the same small parade of village shops that has served Meopham for decades, drawing a steady local trade rather than passing custom.

The kitchen works through a familiar British-Cantonese list — sweet-and-sour chicken or pork in batter, beef in black bean, king prawn satay, curry sauce, foo yung and a broad spread of fried-rice and chow-mein noodle dishes — alongside set meals for two or three that bundle starters, a main and rice for households eating in together. Portions and pricing are the two things that come up most often in customer feedback, with the takeaway generally regarded as good value by Meopham standards and the service quick when collection orders are pre-booked. The FSA gave the premises a 5 (Very Good) rating at its January 2025 inspection.

The Parade itself sits a short walk from Meopham railway station on the Chatham Main Line from London Victoria via Bromley South to Gillingham, so the shop catches the evening commuter trade alongside its village regulars.
