Gurkhas Namaste

Gurkha's Namaste on Longbridge Road is one of the few Nepalese restaurants operating in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, running two parallel menus under the same roof: one Indian, one Nepalese. The Indian side covers the expected range of tandoori dishes, biryani and curry, while the Nepalese menu introduces dishes built around spices imported directly from Nepal — a detail that lifts the cooking well above the generic curry-house standard. Mixed grills, paneer shashlik and chicken chaat feature among the starters; the Nepalese mains bring a distinctly different flavour register. The Gourmet Society recognition and a run of positive 2024–25 reviews — repeatedly citing excellent food, good value and warm service — mark this as a genuine neighbourhood restaurant worth seeking out.
