About St John Restaurant
St John Restaurant at 26 St John Street, Clerkenwell is one of London's most iconic and influential restaurants, a pioneer of the nose-to-tail cooking philosophy that has shaped British dining since it opened in 1994. Founded by Fergus Henderson in a former smokehouse opposite Smithfield Market, St John holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand and has been ranked among the World's 50 Best Restaurants. The short, daily-changing menu celebrates the whole animal in dishes that are deceptively simple yet deeply flavoured. Tel: 020 7251 0848.
The restaurant is open Monday to Friday for lunch and dinner and Saturday evening only, with Sunday lunch served 12:30-4pm. Highlights include the bone marrow and parsley salad, Welsh rarebit and the legendary Eccles cake with Lancashire cheese. A bakery and wine shop adjoin the restaurant. Farringdon underground station is a five-minute walk.
