About Ibai
Ibai at 90 Bartholomew Close, Clerkenwell is listed in the 2025 Michelin Guide and was reviewed by Wallpaper* magazine in 2025 as one of the most exciting additions to the EC1 dining scene. A collaboration between ex-Chiltern Firehouse chef Richard Foster and Basque beef importers Txuleta, Ibai specialises in the extraordinary meat of ex-dairy Galician blonde cattle reared for over 12 years. The result is a super-beef of extraordinary depth and flavour, served alongside Basque-influenced dishes including the celebrated Croque Ibai — a French hot sandwich souped up with carabinero prawns, boudin noir and Tomme de Brebis cheese — and Le Noir de Bigorre ham with piparra peppers.
The 80-cover restaurant occupies a former factory space between Smithfield Market and the Barbican, designed by Box 9 with dark wood, brown leather booths and a relaxed, industrial elegance. Close to Barbican underground station and St Bartholomew's Hospital. Book in advance.
