About ACE Pizza
ACE Pizza opened its first standalone restaurant at 126-128 Lauriston Road in Victoria Park Village on 28 July 2025, taking over the former Fish House site and bringing its acclaimed "London-style" pizza to E9. Founded by Rachel Jones in 2018 -- who previously ran the Italian-American street food concept Capish? at KERB -- ACE Pizza has been based at The Pembury Tavern in Hackney, where it built a devoted following before expanding to this dedicated restaurant. Time Out rates it among the best restaurants in Hackney, praising its "good, old fashioned fun" and its welcome "breaking up of the undeniable smugness of Victoria Park Village."
The pizza is made with a biga starter and 48-hour fermented dough, producing a style described as "London-style" -- a cross between Neapolitan and New York: charred and chewy but also thin, crispy and foldable. The standalone restaurant adds a new menu of pizzas alongside the classics, served in an interior of 80s nostalgia with warm pink and yellow tones, chestnut wood panelling, plush booth seating and pizza boxes inspired by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. A moody red-lit darkroom at the back completes the atmosphere. Order the crispy fried artichokes, anchovy toast and a parmesan-infused martini before your pizza. Open Tuesday to Saturday evening.
