G Kelly is one of the last remaining traditional pie and mash shops in London, a beloved East End institution on Bethnal Green Road that has been serving the local community since 1939. The Kelly family have operated in the Bethnal Green area for generations, and this branch carries on the tradition with an authentic, no-frills pie and mash experience that has changed little in nearly a century. The menu is classic and unfussy: minced beef pies baked in-house, creamy mashed potato, parsley liquor (the traditional green sauce made from parsley water and starch) and stewed eels.
