Elis

Elis is the casual, joyful younger sibling to Da Terra at the Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green -- a Brazilian-Italian restaurant from the same chef, Rafael Cagali, occupying the elegant former Corner Room space on the ground floor of this landmark Edwardian hotel. Opened in October 2022, Elis is named after the beloved Brazilian bossa nova singer Elis Regina, and shares her spirit of warmth, spontaneity and emotional generosity. Hardens rates it as "a most underrated restaurant whose fabulous small plates reflect the founder's Italian-Brazilian background." The wine programme is curated by the Noble Rot team.

Where Da Terra offers a refined tasting menu experience, Elis takes a more relaxed approach: rustic Italian-Brazilian small plates inspired by Cagali's childhood street food and family celebrations. Signature dishes include the Palm Heart and Scamorza Pastel -- a Brazilian fried pastry with a molten smoked cheese and palm heart filling -- alongside vitello tonnato, house-made pasta and dishes rooted in the culinary traditions of both Italy and Brazil. Great music adds to the atmosphere. Open daily for dinner.
