About Wood Street Bakery
Wood Street Bakery is one of the most acclaimed artisan bakeries in East London -- opened in summer 2021 by pastry chef Jennifer Moseley in the former Percy Ingle premises on Wood Street in Walthamstow, and rated 4.7 stars from 189 reviews. Time Out describes the cheese and jalapeño swirl as "possibly the most famous pastry in all of E17," while Eater London contextualises Moseley's career: "Her London baking resumé takes in a few important pillars: the hot years of The Modern Pantry; the regrettably overlooked reliable The Bread Station; the hip flash new thing Wild by Tart. It's all culminated in her own neighbourhood spot in Walthamstow." Featured on London's Best Bakeries and Best Sourdough lists.
The bakery and café menu changes daily to reflect seasonal ingredients and what's fresh from the ovens: croissants soaked in rum and vanilla turned into almond "sharks," jalapeño and cheese escargots, banana bread, pastel de natas, a platonic-ideal chocolate chip cookie made with 71% Nicaraguan dark chocolate from Land in Hackney, daily-changing sandwiches, quiche and filled croissants. Afternoon tea also available. Working with small independent UK suppliers throughout. Open Monday to Saturday 8am–4pm; Sunday 8:30am–4pm. Website: woodstreetbakes.com.
