About Singburi
Singburi is a legendary Thai restaurant on Leytonstone High Road from chef-owner Sirichai -- for many years the most acclaimed restaurant in the E10/E11 area and runner-up in the Leytonstoner best restaurant poll 2024 (23%), closing that year in what is being called a sabbatical. The restaurant started its life 25 years ago as a fish and chip shop before transforming into one of London's most respected Thai kitchens. In 2024, Sirichai announced the temporary closure: "We are now closed for this year. It has been twenty-five years since we began as a fish and chip shop, wondering if we could pay the rent... we are in a position to fondly reminisce. But now, for the moment we need time to ruminate, as we have not had as much time for ourselves."
The restaurant is currently closed on indefinite sabbatical. When open, Singburi served exceptional Thai food drawing on both classic dishes -- green and red curries, som tum, larb, tod mun pla (fish cakes) -- and its own distinctive take on Thai flavours developed over 25 years at the same address. Its reopening when it happens will be an event for the whole of East London. Please check Singburi's social media channels for updates on reopening.
