About Sichuan Folk
Sichuan Folk is one of the most authentic Sichuan Chinese restaurants in London, a compact, unpretentious gem on Hanbury Street between Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane. Rated 4/5 for food in the Hardens Guide -- described as "a tiny place near Truman's old brewery that serves an excellent and authentic take on Sichuan cuisine, in a calm atmosphere, away from the agitation of Brick Lane" -- with the "numb and spicy dumplings" singled out as a highlight. A genuinely well-regarded local restaurant that draws regulars from across North and East London.
The menu delivers the fiery, numbing flavours of Sichuan province at very reasonable prices: signature Sichuan hotpot, the famous boiled fish buried in a cauldron of chilli oil (a dish that costs double at West End Sichuan restaurants), gong bao chicken, ma po tofu, peng-peng crab, dry-fried green beans with pork, and a strong vegetarian selection. Lunch specials offer exceptional value. Open daily for lunch and dinner with delivery and takeaway available. A cult favourite for those in the know.
