About Katsute 100 Brick Lane

Katsute 100 Brick Lane is a completely charming Japanese tearoom from the founders of the beloved Katsute 100 in Islington, bringing one of London's most distinctive cafe concepts to the heart of Brick Lane. The name "Katsute" means "once upon a time" in Japanese, and the tearoom evokes the timeless, serene world of the Japanese tea ceremony in an unexpected East London setting. Featured in The Nudge's essential Brick Lane guide as one of the most distinctive spots on the street.

The tearoom serves an extraordinary selection of loose leaf teas imported directly from Japan, including rare and seasonal varieties such as mountain grape tea and aged oolongs that are difficult to find anywhere else in the UK. Alongside the teas, an elegant patisserie of Japanese-inspired cakes and sweets -- including matcha mille-feuille crepe cake -- is served. The basement houses an authentic tatami room where guests can experience a more traditional tea ceremony setting. Open daily. A deeply calming and unusual experience on one of London's most frenetic streets.
