Kahaila Cafe

Kahaila is a much-loved independent community cafe and social enterprise on Brick Lane, one of the most genuinely characterful spots on a street better known for its curry houses and bagel shops. Founded as a not-for-profit, Kahaila uses the proceeds from its coffee, cakes and food to support vulnerable and marginalised people in East London through a range of community programmes and partnerships.

The cafe is warmly decorated with mismatched furniture, artworks and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere that draws in a loyal local following of artists, students, families and community members. The menu covers specialty coffee, homemade cakes, waffles, soups, sandwiches and seasonal light meals, with strong vegan and vegetarian options. The famous Belgian waffles are a highlight.
