About Clifton Restaurant
Clifton Restaurant occupies a landmark position at 1 Whitechapel Road, at the very gateway to Brick Lane. Part of the Clifton group, it lays claim to being the first Indian restaurant ever established on Brick Lane, with roots dating back to the early 1950s. It is a genuine piece of East London culinary history.
The restaurant is chic and spacious, decorated with warm woods, muted tones and a stunning carved mural. Food is served from a vibrant open kitchen, which specialises in innovative regional dishes from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan — from lamb chilli masala and sag prawns to dal masaldar and classic tandoori grills. A wide range of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails is served from the bar. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Clifton caters for groups and private events. Conveniently located at the junction of Whitechapel High Street and Brick Lane, close to Aldgate East tube station.
