About Cafe Naz

Note: This branch of Cafe Naz on Brick Lane is recorded as permanently closed.

Cafe Naz was a well-loved chain of contemporary Indian and Bangladeshi restaurants, with its flagship Brick Lane branch occupying the historic site of the old Naz Cinema — a venue that showed Asian films in the 1960s and was visited by Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar. The restaurant made headlines in 1999 when a neo-Nazi car bomb exploded outside. The Cafe Naz brand offered traditional curry house classics alongside a popular lunchtime buffet, serving the Brick Lane community for many years before closure. Other branches of the group may continue to operate elsewhere in London and Cambridge.
