Palombos Fish Chips and Pizza

Palombo's of Balloch on Balloch Road has been a local institution since 1967, regularly cited by customers and food writers as one of Scotland's finest traditional chip shops. Franco Palombo took over the family business in 1990 and has maintained the tradition of ethically sourced produce, relationships with local suppliers and stone-baked pizzas made to a family recipe. The menu runs from homemade lentil soup and traditional steak pie through to chippy favourites, haggis and black pudding, and Palombo's is one of very few chip shops in Scotland with an extensive gluten-free menu. A licensed dining room above the shop serves sit-down meals, and a B&B occupies the upper floors. Open from mid-morning for lunch and dinner service, it draws regulars from across the Vale of Leven as well as visitors arriving at the nearby Loch Lomond gateway.
