About Annes Kitchen

Anne's Kitchen is the small cafe-style takeaway on Friars Vennel, the steep pedestrian lane that climbs from the Whitesands riverside up to the Plainstones cross and the Burns Statue at the top of Dumfries High Street. The Vennel is one of the oldest streets in the Royal Burgh and now holds a tight stack of independent food shops — Anne's sits alongside the Vennel curry-house cluster but trades a very different format: a daytime hot-and-cold rolls shop pitched at the morning and lunchtime market rather than the evening takeaway trade.

The format is essentially the Scottish breakfast-roll counter, with bacon, sausage, square-sliced (Lorne) sausage, black pudding, tattie scone and egg combinations served in floury rolls or on toast, plus filled rolls through the lunchtime window, soups, panini, baked potatoes and the usual hot drinks. Online presence is light — there is a Yelp listing and an EatEasy entry but no extensive Tripadvisor footprint — which is in line with a small daytime cafe trading mostly on walk-up custom from the Vennel and the High Street shops rather than on aggregator traffic.
