Krispies on Exeter Road was crowned National Fish and Chip Shop of the Year in 2019 — the industry's highest accolade — and holds the National Federation of Fish Friers Quality Award, carried by fewer than 250 shops across the whole of the UK. The shop's signature innovation is coating the chips in a light bespoke batter before frying, creating a crisp exterior with a fluffy centre that customers and critics alike describe as a revelation. The fish is sourced from the Barents Sea and frozen within hours of the catch. In 2025 Krispies celebrated twenty-five years of trading from the same Exeter Road address. Deservedly the most visited chippy on the Exmouth seafront approach.
