Sang Sang House

Sang Sang House is the long-running Chinese takeaway on Station Road in Swanwick, the ex-mining village a short drive west of Ripley on the way out to Alfreton. It is a small independent Cantonese-style shop in the run of small Station Road traders and has built up a steady local following over the years from the surrounding Swanwick and Pentrich streets.

The menu is the conventional Cantonese-takeaway list — chicken in black bean, sweet and sour, chop suey, foo yung, satay, curry sauce, rice and noodle bases, plus chow mein and a smaller English-style chip-shop section. Set meals are sized for one or two and the shop runs both collection and a small delivery radius across Swanwick and the immediate adjacent villages.

It is one of those neighbourhood Chinese shops that trade more on local word-of-mouth than online presence — the food hygiene rating is good and the reviews on the local Facebook groups are consistently warm. For Swanwick residents it is the obvious choice, well placed for a collection on the drive back from Ripley or Alfreton.
