King's Chef Chinese Takeaway

King's Chef is a small independent Chinese takeaway on Nottingham Road in Ripley, the main road running east out of the town centre. It is one of three or four Cantonese-style takeaways spread along the Nottingham Road and Chapel Street corridor and trades primarily on its long-standing local regulars rather than online aggregator visibility.

The menu is the familiar mid-Derbyshire Chinese-takeaway list — chicken in black bean, sweet and sour, satay, chow mein, foo yung, curry sauce, chop suey, rice and noodle bases, plus set meals for one or two and the usual English-style chips, burgers and battered fish options for households that cannot agree on a cuisine. Orders go in by phone for collection from the counter, with delivery limited to the central Ripley postcodes.

It sits a few minutes' walk from the Market Place and on the route most Ripley drivers take heading home east towards Codnor and Heanor, which is where most of its evening trade comes from.
