So Precious Caribbean Takeaway is the Caribbean and Jamaican kitchen on the Allenton end of Osmaston Road, sharing the same plot as the longer-running Allenton Kebabs operation. The shop was previously known as Roots Caribbean Takeaway and the menu has stayed consistent across the rebrand: jerk chicken and jerk pork with rice and peas, curry goat, ackee and saltfish, oxtail stew, plantain and traditional Jamaican patties, with the jerk side cooked over heat rather than pan-fried for the proper smoke character. It is one of very few dedicated Caribbean takeaways in south Derby — the city's Caribbean food scene is small and mostly concentrated around the Normanton and Allenton end of the wider Derby map — and the shop has built a tight following through the Facebook page and Deliveroo listing. There is no dining area; the operation is collection and delivery only, evenings, with delivery covering the wider Allenton, Sinfin and Wilmorton catchment.
