Pizza Cottage sits on the Prince Charles Avenue parade in Mackworth, the residential suburb sandwiched between Mickleover to the south-west and Allestree to the north, where the post-war Mackworth Estate housing meets the older village core. The shop is one of the busier takeaways in this corner of Derby, picking up trade from the estate and from drivers heading out of the city on the A52.

The menu runs wider than the name suggests. Stone-baked pizzas form the headline — house specials including the Pizza Cottage Special, BBQ chicken, hot-and-spicy and meat feast, with calzones and garlic breads as sides — but a sizeable Indian section runs in parallel, with tandoori starters, biryanis, curries and tikka dishes that drift the shop into curry-house territory for the evening trade. The kebab and burger sides round out the sheet for the after-pub catchment.

The kitchen trades evenings only, running from teatime through to midnight, with the shop's own ordering app cutting through the Just Eat fees for repeat customers.
