About Lang Cheer
Lang Cheer is a small Chinese takeaway on the London Road parade at Wilmorton, the older railway-housing stretch of south-east Derby that sits between Alvaston and the city centre — the area where the Baseball Ground, Derby County's ground until 1997, used to stand. The shop is a single-room collection and delivery operation working the standard British-Cantonese list of sweet and sour, chow mein, salt and pepper, fried rice and a long curry-sauce side, with set meals built around two- and four-person sharing boxes. The shop trades evenings only and is firmly the kind of neighbourhood Chinese that has held its place on a stretch of the A6 that has cycled through plenty of other takeaway names — Wilmorton sits between the busier Allenton parade and the converted shopfronts running up towards Pride Park, and the takeaway market here is a competitive mix of Indian, Caribbean and chippy operations. Pricing sits at the affordable end and the catchment is the immediate Wilmorton and adjoining Allenton housing rather than passing London Road traffic.
