Panda Express

Panda Express is a small evening takeaway on Station Street in Ashbourne, just off the Market Place at the heart of the historic Peak District gateway town. Despite the Chinese-sounding name the shop is actually an Indian takeaway that also runs a pizza and kebab section from the same kitchen — a crossover format common to smaller-town takeaways.

The Indian side covers the standard British curry-house list — bhuna, dhansak, dopiaza, jalfrezi, korma, madras and a chef's-special section with tandoori starters — and reviews single out the curries as the consistent strength. Regulars from as far as Bristol have been quoted asking for an Ashbourne takeaway from here, which is a useful sign for a market-town shop. Restaurant Guru sits at 4.0 stars from over a hundred reviews and Google at 3.9.

The Food Standards Agency rated the kitchen 4 (Good) at the January 2023 inspection. The few negative reviews concentrate on inconsistency — one disputed seafood freshness — rather than a structural issue. Evening trading, collection and delivery.
