Picnic Basket

The Picnic Basket is the long-established sandwich and lunch shop on New Elvet in the New Elvet university precinct of central Durham. Opened on 18 September 1992, the shop has built its reputation on freshly prepared made-to-order sandwiches, oven-baked jacket potatoes, home-made cakes and scones and a rotating soup of the day, using local-market fresh produce, specialty breads, meats and cheeses delivered daily.

Awards include North East Sandwich Shop of the Year and a five-star Food Hygiene rating.
