About De Niros
De Niro's is one of the better-known independent chippies in north Dundee, trading from a corner unit on Macalpine Road in the heart of the Ardler housing scheme. The shop runs as a full Scottish chippy with a substantial stone-baked pizza sideline, which is its main distinguishing feature on the local parade — the pizzas come out of a proper stone-based oven rather than a deck or conveyor unit, and the menu lists them alongside the standard fish suppers, sausages, pies and burgers. Baked potatoes are the third pillar of the card.
The shop trades seven days a week from late afternoon through to ten, with a loyalty programme — point-for-pound through the in-house app — and a first-order discount that has built a base of regular collection customers from the surrounding Ardler closes. Reviews on Tripadvisor are mixed but the shop has a settled local following, with the stone-baked pizzas and the fish suppers picked out most often. For DD3 households on Macalpine Road and the upper end of the scheme it has been the parade's default chippy for a long stretch, and the menu's combination of chippy and pizza gives it broader reach than most.
