Turkish Best Kebab

Best Kebab & Pizza House — listed previously as Turkish Best Kebab and earlier as Marmaris at the same Keptie Street site — is one of the longer-running kebab-and-pizza shops in central Arbroath. The shop trades from the Keptie Street belt close to the High Street, and the operator (Ozkan Aksoy, named in Arbroath FC sponsorship pages) has built the business since around 2016 into one of the better-known late-evening takeaways in the burgh.

The honours are unusual for a small Angus burgh kebab shop — the shop won Best Kebab House in Scotland 2020 and Best Takeaway in Scotland 2021 at the Scottish Asian Restaurant Awards, and was Fast Food Restaurant of the Year in Scotland 2021. The menu sits to the standard hybrid kebab-and-pizza format: doner, shish, chicken-shawarma and lamb-shish wraps, a long pizza section with the usual margherita-to-meat-feast spread, calzones, burgers, southern-fried chicken, jacket potatoes and a chips-with-sauce side bar, plus a separate kids' section. Online ordering runs through the in-house website and the standard aggregators, with gluten-free options flagged on the menu.

The shop also sponsors Arbroath FC, the local senior football side that plays at Gayfield Park — the closest senior football ground to the sea in Britain.
